Ben Huff uses a Toyo 4x5 field camera on a
tripod. That is a little smaller than an 8x10 but, a preferred format that he
is greatly passion about. Taking each shot is a monumental challenge to get the
preferred lighting in the small time the Alaska day gives and fighting the
deathly cold to get the shot just right. His preferred imagery is portraits and
landscapes. These pictures are from the projects done in Alaska.

Ben’s focused is intended to capture the beauty
of Alaska. Through the portraits of people living in the unforgiving cold or
the wonderful natural beauty of the earth. He frames the landscapes picturing
only a small part of the large horizons he experiences. He takes the reality of
life’s natural living and how life really is into the expression of film. Not
setting up objects to make the shot but, capturing the real life images of a
day to day living in Alaska.

Ben shows a great appreciation for life’s natural
beauty. I appreciate the reality of the pictures that they weren’t set up to
look the way he intended but, were real, the way of life, and the beauty of the
earth. I enjoy landscapes and nature that expresses the beautiful creations of
the earth. He captures the real beauty of Alaska with his images.
