Laurence Rasti
Photo 1:
In the picture, Laurence Rasti created a portrait like image with two male figures underneath a floral blue and white sheet. The background is a light shade of pink. Laurence Rasti talked about the image in regards to being a homosexual male in Iran. This image is definitely a celebration of coming out or being able to express one's self. Due to one's religion, people throughout foreign countries may feel as though they can not live their truth. I can definitely relate to the feeling of not being accepted when it comes to one's sexuality so this hits close to home for me.
Photo 2:
Laurence Rasti created another portrait of a young shirtless male posing and looking directly into the camera. Rasti used a lime green background that looks similar to a shower curtain with palm trees as props. I think that Rasti was experimenting with masculine versus feminine. Even though there is not much going on in the photograph, it's content makes you wonder what the overall message. I appreciate pictures that make you think about what the artist's intent could be. I have learned by looking at some of these artist's work that it is not always about what looks pleasing to the eye. The message is what is most important.
Photo 3:
This picture was quite confusing for me personally. There is a young woman who has large hair and is in front of a bright orange rectangular background. However, you can see the rest of the room which distracts the viewer. There are more pictures a lot like this one where the woman has different hair. Another interesting thing that drew my attention was that she is holding a remote that looks as if she is actually taking a picture of her self. One conceptual idea that one can conclude from this picture is relative to today's age. Women today wear wigs and change the way they look on a day to day basis.
