Wolfgang Tillmans

Photo 1:

Wolfgang Tillmans created a black and white vintage style picture of a wedding. The way people were dressed in the picture looks as though this interracial wedding might not be the social norm. We have a lady in the left bottom corner taking a picture. She could be a family member or she could just be someone walking down the street and shocked at seeing an interracial couple getting married. According to the picture description, the couple getting married are Jehovah witnesses. Even though the picture is a casual scene of a wedding photo, it feels as though there is a message there. The mood of the picture was set especially with the black and white tone of the picture.

Photo 2:

Photograph two is the picture on the left with a young man from Russia. In the description of the photo, he is a member of the LGBT community. He is in focus with a blurred background, and his face is slightly turned to the right. The tone of the photograph looks like a shade of sepia in a night scene. The young individual may have wanted to bring awareness to the LGBT community in Russia and the discriminations they have to endure. Again, these moments where we capture someone taking pride in what they stand for are what I believe in.

Photo 3:

On the right, we have a young man looking towards the bottom left of the frame. The shot is a close up with him sitting in a wooden chair against a white wall. There does not seem to be a flash because the natural light is giving enough for the picture. The way he is sitting is not very prideful but as though he has maybe endured some hardships with his sexuality and he is trying to overcome them. Tillmans helps to promote activism for the LGBT community of Russia which helps bring awareness to the hardships of these individuals.
